Cardmarket balance: withdrawable and restricted credit
On this page
Your Cardmarket balance is not necessarily the amount you can withdraw to a bank account. Credit can have different origins and restrictions, and money connected to an unfinished order is a separate issue. Read the amount available in the withdrawal screen, then reconcile it with your transaction history rather than treating the headline balance as unrestricted cash.
The distinction matters when you sell a collection to fund another purchase, receive promotional credit, or close an account after trading. This guide explains how to investigate a mismatch without assuming that every euro follows the same rules. Account information and the current Cardmarket help pages take priority over screenshots from older tutorials.
Three amounts that answer different questions
A total balance answers how much credit the account currently records. A purchase payment screen answers what you can apply to that transaction. A withdrawal screen answers what the platform currently allows you to send to the selected bank account. Those questions overlap, but they are not interchangeable.
Do not create a universal formula from a screenshot showing only one of them. A balance might include credit subject to conditions, while an order might still be awaiting a step before its proceeds become available. Your history should identify the origin of each entry and the order to which it belongs. That is more useful than repeatedly opening the withdrawal form.
| What you are checking | Relevant evidence | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Credit recorded on the account | Balance and transaction history | That all credit is withdrawable |
| Amount usable for a purchase | Payment screen and applicable conditions | That the same amount can go to your bank |
| Amount currently withdrawable | Withdrawal screen and wallet guidance | When a transfer will reach the bank |
| Proceeds of a particular sale | Order status and its financial entries | That an unfinished order has released funds |
Record these amounts at the same time. Comparing yesterday's balance with today's withdrawal limit can produce an apparent discrepancy that is simply another purchase, refund or order update. Include the currency and the timestamp in your notes, especially if a screenshot is being prepared for support.
Restricted credit is a real category
Cardmarket's wallet guidance explicitly distinguishes non-withdrawable credit. Its promotional terms also provide concrete examples of credit that can be spent on purchases but cannot be cashed out or transferred to another user. Such a restriction is part of the credit's conditions, rather than a defect in the bank transfer form.
That does not mean every promotional campaign uses identical terms, nor that all deposits share the same restrictions. Read the conditions for the credit you actually received. The description of an old survey reward can demonstrate that restricted credit exists; it cannot tell you the eligibility, expiry or withdrawal rules of an unrelated promotion.
For example, imagine a fictional account showing €90, including €10 of purchase-only promotional credit. If the withdrawal screen permits €80 and the history confirms those categories, the difference has a coherent explanation. The figures are an illustration, not a statement about your account, a current offer or the way every balance is allocated when buying cards.
Keep the original promotion email or terms alongside the transaction entry. A brief description such as “bonus” may not preserve all the conditions. If the account interface does not identify the restricted amount clearly, ask support to identify which entries explain the limit instead of requesting a speculative workaround.
A pending sale is a different problem
Money associated with an order is not the same thing as promotional credit. Before treating a missing withdrawal amount as a wallet restriction, open the order and check whether it is paid, sent, received, cancelled or otherwise awaiting action. The appropriate explanation depends on the order's actual status and payment arrangements.
Cardmarket's Trustee Service concerns custody and release of payment for eligible orders. It should not be used as a generic explanation for every non-withdrawable euro. A completed transaction with purchase-only credit and an unfinished protected sale can both produce confusion, but resolving one requires credit terms and resolving the other requires the order record.
Do not mark a parcel as received merely to make funds available when the cards have not arrived. Similarly, a seller should not pressure the buyer to change an order status outside the real delivery situation. Finish the transaction according to its actual facts, and consult the relevant help page if the expected financial entry is absent.
Where several sales are involved, reconcile each one separately. “I sold cards for €200” might refer to orders at different stages, refunds already issued and costs recorded elsewhere. A total assembled from listing prices is weaker evidence than the completed transaction entries belonging to those sales.
Trace the difference with a small ledger
Start with the last moment at which the balance and withdrawal amount made sense to you. List subsequent credits and debits in order: sales proceeds, deposits, purchase payments, refunds and promotional entries. Use the labels shown by Cardmarket rather than guessing a category from the amount alone.
A useful record has four fields: date, transaction reference, origin or destination, and amount. Add a fifth field for any condition explicitly displayed. You do not need a complicated spreadsheet to investigate five transactions, but keeping the references prevents two refunds of similar size from being confused.
Suppose the balance rose by €25 after a refund and later fell by €18 after buying singles. If you remember only the refund, a withdrawal figure based on the later balance may look wrong. Follow the sequence to its end before assuming that the difference is withheld money. Pending or reversed transactions should be identified as such, rather than counted twice.
If the arithmetic still does not reconcile, stop adding guesses. Prepare the relevant references and ask support which balance category is preventing withdrawal. A focused question about three entries is easier to answer than a broad claim that the platform has retained the value of your entire collection.
Check bank details without making assumptions
When a withdrawal is available, use the current account interface and the bank details it requests. For collectors in Spain, this commonly involves a euro bank account and an IBAN, but the exact requirements, verification and permitted account ownership should be read in the current withdrawal flow. Do not copy instructions from an unrelated payment method.
Cardmarket's October 2025 update discussed Verification of Payee changes affecting bank transfers and confirmation of withdrawal details. This makes accurate beneficiary information particularly relevant. Enter the name and details requested by the platform exactly as appropriate to your bank account, and investigate a mismatch rather than dismissing it because the IBAN appears plausible.
Separate the submitted withdrawal from the bank's receipt of it. A successful request is evidence of that step; it is not a promise that the receiving bank has already credited the transfer. Retain its reference, amount and submission date. Consult current support guidance before declaring a delay from an old estimate quoted on a forum.
Do not split a transfer into repeated small requests to test a restriction. That produces more entries without identifying the cause. Verify the permitted amount and any applicable costs first, then submit the intended withdrawal through the official interface when the information is consistent.
Buying cards to turn credit into cash is not equivalent
Purchase-only credit can be useful if it fits a purchase you already planned. Buying arbitrary cards in the hope of immediately reselling them is a different transaction with its own condition, demand, postage and selling costs. It should not be represented as an official withdrawal method or as a guaranteed recovery of the credit's face value.
An item bought for €20 does not automatically produce €20 of freely available proceeds. A later sale has to happen, the buyer must receive the described cards and the order must progress correctly. The printed balance is not a reliable estimate of what a rushed resale would recover.
The same caution applies to supposed balance-swapping offers. Do not send account credentials, authentication codes or money to someone claiming to unlock restricted credit. The wallet's own conditions and official support determine the permitted uses; a third-party promise does not change them.
Evidence to send support
Provide the total balance, the amount shown as withdrawable, the time you checked them and the relevant transaction references. Explain what you expected and why. Include the applicable promotion conditions or order status if those appear to account for the difference.
Redact unnecessary bank details and unrelated personal data from screenshots shared outside the private support channel. Support may need specific information to investigate, but a public forum does not need your full IBAN, address or authentication codes. Keep the original unedited records privately so the entries remain traceable.
Ask for a concrete explanation: which entries are restricted, whether a particular order has released its payment, or which bank verification step remains incomplete. Avoid combining all three questions into an accusation about unavailable money when the history has not yet been reconciled.
Frequently asked questions
Does a positive balance mean I can withdraw it all?
No. The withdrawal amount depends on the credit's applicable conditions and the account's current status. Cardmarket distinguishes non-withdrawable credit, and purchase-only promotional rewards are a documented example. Check the withdrawal screen and the origin of the entries.
Is non-withdrawable credit the same as a Trustee payment?
No. Restricted credit describes permitted uses of a balance entry. Trustee Service concerns the handling of an eligible order's payment. Examine the wallet conditions for the former and the actual order status for the latter.
Can I promise a buyer that a bank withdrawal will arrive tomorrow?
Do not promise a time based on the headline balance or an old tutorial. First verify that the withdrawal is permitted and successfully submitted, then use the current platform and bank information. Keep the reference so any delay can be investigated.
